Darryn takes steps forward in practice as Jerez weekend gets underway
After just a few days of rest, the MotoGP World Championship is back in action this weekend for the second back-to-back round of the season, this time in the sunny South of Spain. With decent temperatures, which have been increasing in the course of the day, the WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team already got some solid work done on Friday, but aims to move further ahead.
Darryn Binder could take some profit of having ridden his MotoGP machine at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto already last November. Despite being more than three seconds slower than the top in FP1, the South African caught up quickly in the second Free Practice to eventually make up 2.464 seconds compared to his morning time, plus one position in the overall standings.
The WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team and both, Dovizioso and Binder are now already looking forward to Saturday, where they can try further ideas in Free Practice three at 09:55 local time and Free Practice four at 13:30 ahead of the two Qualifying sessions that start at 14:10.
DARRYN BINDER
“This morning we had quite tricky conditions with some wet patches from the rain yesterday afternoon. I struggled quite a lot in the morning, but I managed to make a good step forward in FP2. I improved nearly two and a half seconds compared to this morning. I feel like I know exactly what I need to work on for tomorrow and I hope we can be able to make another good step in FP3 on Saturday morning.”
