Darryn improves across practice sessions and lines up 15th on the #AustrianGP grid

The Moto2 Qualifying at the Austrian Grand Prix secured LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Moto2 riders Darryn Binder the 15th spot on the grid for the tenth race of the season at the Red Bull Ring after progressing through Q1.

Darryn improved in the course of the three practice sessions. With each session, the 25-year-old is regaining confidence in his Kalex and working hard to quickly find his pace and rhythm, something that will be essential especially for Sunday’s heated 23-lap race starting at 12:15 (CEST), as the gap to the times of the top 10 is marginal.

The South African made it through Qualifying 1 just like his teammate and with 15th place on row five, secured the perfect attacking position for the points or even the Top 10. With a positive feeling and his well-known composure, Binder is aiming to return to where he was before his crash misfortune in the first third of the season.

“Overall, I think it was a positive day. I made a really good step from yesterday to today and managed to get through Q1 into Q2. I feel like I’m heading in the right direction and it feels like this weekend I found a lot more rhythm compared to the last couple of races so slowly but surely I found my way again, also with the team. I’m really looking forward to the race tomorrow. I feel like I could get a solid result. I try to find my way into the Top 10, if I can manage that I’ll be quite happy. Today, in Q2, it was the hottest it’s been all weekend so far and it definitely changed things up a bit with the bike but tonight we’ll go through everything and try to find a few key things to help with this temperature in the race. But in the end. I’ll just have to go out there and do what I’ve been doing over the weekend and then things should be good.”
