Darryn lines up twenty third despite further steps forward at Silverstone

It was a sunny, but very tricky Saturday back from the summer break for the WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team in Great Britain. Although both Darryn Binder and teammate Andrea Dovizioso managed to improve their lap times from Friday, they ran into traffic during Qualifying to conclude Saturday in some challenging positions.

Although premier class rookie Darryn lowered his lap time from Friday by 0.889 seconds during Free Practice three, he was still trying to find his way closer to the rest of the ultra-competitive field. In the process, he unfortunately registered a second crash of the weekend in FP4, but was back in action for Qualifying. In this all-important session he managed to break the 2:00 minutes barrier for the first time to reach a personal fastest time of 1:59.931 minutes, but still will have to line up in P23 tomorrow.

DARRYN BINDER

“I feel like I made a step forward from yesterday. Every session I’ve gone like a second quicker. Unfortunately, I feel like I’m just one session behind after messing up yesterday in FP2 and I’m paying the price now with missing some time on track. But session by session, I’m feeling better, getting faster, getting closer to the front and slowly but surely feeling better. Qualifying wasn’t great, but at least I’m still improving, finding the way and I’m ready for the race tomorrow.”
